Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated Houston, Texas). Wal-Mart Stores Incorporated (NYSE: WMT) (Bentonville, Arkansas) is planning to construct a $55 Million Distribution Center (Store # 7039) in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin despite community opposition.
Carter & Burgess Incorporated, headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, is currently performing final design for the new center. A general contractor will be selected from a shortlist of five in the middle of July 2004.
The 1.2 million square foot distribution center, to be located off U.S. 151 in Dodge County, is expected to create over 450 jobs by 2008. The new center will feed merchandise to regional Wal-Mart supercenters. Approximately 400 acres of land is being annexed. Construction is expected to begin in late July, or early September 2004, with completion planned for Fall 2005.

Wal-Mart's international segment consists of retail operations in eight countries and Puerto Rico, which includes retail stores, Discount Stores, supercenters, and Sam's CLUB'S. Wal-Mart made more than $6 billion in profits in 2003.
