Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is tracking nearly $52 billion in U.S. Industrial Manufacturing projects that are set to kick off in the second quarter of this year. The projects vary in type, ranging from data centers to transportation projects to distribution and warehousing facilities. The West Coast market region, which includes California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii, leads the U.S. in terms of the overall value of these planned projects.

Several data center projects are planned to kick off in the region in the upcoming quarter. Among the largest is Facebook parent company Meta Platforms Incorporated's (NASDAQ:FB) (Menlo Park, California) expansion of its data center facility in Prineville, Oregon, in the central part of the state. The project entails constructing two new buildings, both 450,000 square feet and with two stories. Fortis Construction Incorporated (Portland, Oregon) is providing general contracting services for the project, which is expected to wrap up in summer 2023. According to Data Center Dynamics, the Prineville site is Meta's largest data center site in the U.S. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Industrial Manufacturing Project Database can click here for the project report on the construction of Building 10 and here for Building 11.

Amazon.com Incorporated (NASDAQ:AMZN) (Seattle, Washington) also is getting in on the data center action, with an expansion of its facility in Santa Clara, California. The Phase II expansion entails constructing a three-story, 210,000-square-foot data hall to help support Amazon's cloud data services in the region. The project is set to kick off this summer, with construction expected to last about a year. Subscribers can click here for the project report.

It should come as no surprise that Amazon, the leading e-commerce retailer in the U.S., also plans more distribution and warehousing space in the region, with projects planned for California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii. In Upland, California, on the eastern outskirts of Los Angeles, Amazon plans to build a grassroot delivery station. The facility will be more than 200,000 square feet and will feature 16 truck-loading doors, 16 van-loading doors and enough space for more than 1,100 delivery vans. Construction is set to wrap up by the end of this year. Subscribers can click here for the project report.

Airport and light rail projects feature prominently in the region's planned project activity, with the transportation systems sector taking the lead in terms of the value of projects. Such projects include a terminal expansion at the Spokane International Airport in Washington. The project has several moving pieces, including repurposing a ground boarding area into a temporary baggage claim, construction of a new central hall and construction of three new boarding gates, among other things. While transportation, data centers and distribution centers represent the bulk of Industrial Manufacturing project activity in the West Coast region, there's still plenty of room for traditional manufacturing, such as Summit Body & Equipment Incorporated's (Portland, Oregon) construction of a grassroot truck body manufacturing plant, which also will house Summit's new corporate headquarters. The 68,000-square-foot building will be constructed in Ridgefield, Washington. Subscribers can click here for the report.

While not very large projects in themselves, Industrial Info also is tracking several microgrid projects planned to kick off in the region in the upcoming quarter. Examples include a 3.5-megawatt solar array planned for the Salinas Valley State Prison in Soledad, California. The photovoltaic array will be built on 8.7 acres at the prison and will include more than 5,200 ground-mounted solar panels to provide power to the prison through a power purchase agreement. The project is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Subscribers can click here for the detailed report.
