Wood Group Power Operations, Incorporated (Alpharetta, Georgia), part of the Gas Turbine Services Division of John Wood Group PLC (LSE:WG) (Aberdeen, Scotland), has been awarded four six-year contracts, with a combined value of $55 million, from LS Power Acquisition Company I, LLC (LS Power), a member of the LS Power Group (East Brunswick, New Jersey), for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of power generation plants to be acquired by LS Power from Mirant Corporation (NYSE:MIR) (Atlanta, Georgia).
LS Power has a fast-track schedule and underwent a highly competitive O&M service provider selection process. Ms. Carolyne Wass, Vice President of Commercial Management at LS Power, said, We were looking for a company that is able to work seamlessly with LS Power, and WGPO has demonstrated this commitment on four projects they currently operate for LS Power. WGPO has proven its breadth of capabilities and innovative approach to the market, and we look forward to working with them on these important additions to our portfolio.

The LS Power contracts together with a recently signed contract with the Greenfield Energy Center have pushed Wood Group Power Operations power plant O&M responsibilities up over the 11,000-megawatt mark.
