Thailand's sugar sector expects to see 13 million tons of output in 2019-20, a 7% drop from last year. The decline is attributed to prevailing drought conditions. But the nation's sugar consumption continues to grow, now standing at about 2.5 million tons per year.
Thailand's Office of Cane and Sugar Board says the nation's sugarcane output is expected to drop 8% to about 120 million tons in the 2019-20 season, which will accompany a drop in sugarcane prices.
