Belgium's Elia Inaugurates Modular Offshore Grid, an Industrial Info Market Brief
Belgian transmission system operator Elia has officially inaugurated its new modular offshore grid (MOG), which will combine electricity generated by three offshore windfarms--Rentel, SeaMade and Northwester II--for transmission to the mainland. The MOG will enable the windfarms to maximize the transmission of the electricity through 130 kilometers of 220-kilovolt cables to Elia's high-voltage Stevin substation in Zeebrugge, making it one of its kind in Europe.
