Data center projects have continued to thrive in Virginia. Industrial Info is tracking 77 projects in the state worth $10.85 billion. Nearly half of these projects are in Loudoun County's "Data Center Alley," which has a large concentration of data center facilities due to its proximity to U.S. government facilities and the Atlantic Coast with its overseas connections. Space in the county is quickly becoming a premium, and companies have started to look elsewhere in the nearby area to build facilities.
CoreSite Realty has recently completed the first phase of its VA3 Data Center Complex in nearby Fairfax County and has planned three more phases on the site in the future. As land becomes scarce and much more expensive in Loudoun County, the surrounding counties should see increased development in the coming months. Click here for a list of projects and see graph below for project spending by county.
