With the introduction of new technologies in the paper industry, the cost of recycled paper production has dipped by 30-40%, offering an economical and alternative to single-use plastic. Almost 26,000 tons of plastic waste was generated in India in 2017-18, while 60% was recycled. The Paper industry in India utilizes 46% of recycled pulp' 29% of agricultural waste, including bagasse, rice husk, straw, etc.; and 29% of plantation wood, which could take over 25% market share of single-use plastic by 2025.
