Indian Government to Fund Development of Three COVID-19 Vaccines, an Industrial Info Market Brief

To promote development of indigenous vaccines for COVID-19, India's government has offered to provide financial assistance to three candidate vaccines being developed by the country's privately-owned vaccine manufacturing firms.
The Department of Biotechnology, which has been designated as the central coordination agency for COVID-19 vaccine development, so far has short-listed Zydus Cadila Healthcare, Bharat Biotech and Serum Institute of India for funding their vaccine development and trial programs.
The department also recommended funding for 13 other proposals for diagnostics, therapeutics and other interventions to fight coronavirus pandemic.
