In some good news for the U.S. steel industry, Cleveland-Cliffs is bringing some operations and projects back online sooner than first planned, mainly in response to improving demand from automotive plant restarts. The company is restarting construction on its hot-briquetted iron plant in Toledo, Ohio, which is now scheduled for completion by early next year. The company also is restarting iron and steel operations, including the Tilden iron ore mine in Michigan. This could be a sign that some idled blast furnaces will restart operations in the coming months.
