Peru's maritime ports mobilize 2.67 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) per year, with a national merchant fleet that reaches 611,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT) and docks with a fleet of 685,000 DWT.

Colombia connects more frequently with Peru via the latter's ports than any other country, followed by China, Panama, South Korea, the U.S., Mexico and Chile. Most of Peru's overseas connections are through the Port of Callao.
