Shell Chemical has almost completed a turnaround of the 2.3 billion-pound-per-year OP 3 ethylene unit at its plant in Deer Park, Texas, after the unit was shut down on September 26. Restart is expected next week.
Shell's 240,000-BBL/d Norco, Louisiana, refinery returned to a 20% rate reduction on October 12, due to low demand as a result of COVID-19, after rates were at 50% in anticipation of Hurricane Delta.
Silver Eagle Refining's 3,600-BBL/d Evanston, Wyoming, refinery remains offline after it was shut down following a fire at its loading station on September 19. Restart is expected to begin by late next week. The refinery will return to reduced production rates due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
International
Poliom OOO restarted the 472 million-pound-per-year polypropylene unit at its Omsk, Russia, chemical complex on October 13. The unit was shut down for a planned turnaround on October 1.
Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex LLC continues with a planned turnaround of the 308 million-pound-per-year ethylene and 275 million-pound-per-year polyethylene unit at its Guzar, Russia, chemical complex that began on October 12 and 13, respectively. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the units by October 21.
Ufaorgsintez PAO restarted the 88 million-pound-per-year low-density polyethylene 202-205 unit at its Ufa Chemical Complex in Russia. The unit was shut down for a planned turnaround on September 12.
