The packaged food industry in Mexico has experienced moderate volume sales growth in the last two years, although uncertainty has been a factor present in Mexico's economics for the last 18 months. The election of new president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as well as delays in the renegotiation of trade agreements with the United States and Canada, caused a slowdown which translated into a decrease in canned food production.
