Even before the COVID-19 pandemic began affecting worldwide production of goods, there were growing concerns about microchip production in the U.S., and the world in general, going back to the trade wars between the U.S. and China. With the disruption of supply chains and production amid COVID-19-related shutdowns, these shortages have become more acute, affecting production of smart phones, laptop computers, and most recently, automobiles. The current supply-and-demand imbalance for these devices will certainly drive more investment projects soon.
