Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Perhaps more than any other industry, Industrial Manufacturing has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. A global semiconductor shortage has hindered automotive production, and the shift to learning, working and shopping at home has increased the need for data centers, among other things.
In a free webinar presented Wednesday, July 14 at 10 a.m. CDT (11 a.m. EDT), David Pickering, Industrial Info's vice president of research for the Industrial Manufacturing Industry, and Shaheen Chohan, vice president of Global Analytics, will discuss how spending in this industry is unfolding and how it is likely to be for the rest of the year and into 2022. The webinar will be repeated for the European and Asia Pacific regions.
Industrial Info is tracking more than $500 billion in active Industrial Manufacturing projects in the U.S. and Canada. Thanks to the large price tag and long timelines of transportation projects, which include light rail and airports, this sector leads in terms of overall spending, at $230.9 billion, followed by data centers at more than $82.6 billion, and distribution and warehousing projects (also seeing growth due to heightened e-commerce) at $44.65 billion. The semiconductors and computers sector, which generally operates in cycles of about five years as new technologies emerge, also is making a strong showing, with more than $40 billion in active projects.

- Can the automotive sector learn to thrive despite the challenges of a post-COVID world?
 - When will the Industrial Manufacturing Industry recover from the global semiconductor shortage?
 - Is the semiconductor shortage delaying the conversion to electric vehicles, and what is the trend toward spending in the electric vehicle/automotive sector?
 - How long will the industrial manufacturing supply-chain disruption continue, and how is it affecting the spending trends?
