Early December, Braskem-Idesa was forced to halt production at the 2.2 billion-pound-per-year ethane cracker at its Nanchital Complex in Veracruz, Mexico, along with the 200 million-pound-per-year and 250 million-pound-per-year high-density polyethylene (HDPE) units and the 200 million-pound-per-year low-density polyethylene (LDPE) unit, because Mexico's National Center for Control of Natural Gas (CENAGAS) cut off the complex's natural gas supply. Negotiations for the natural gas were renewed, and the affected units resumed operations on January 29.
