Japan's ENEOS Corporation Plans to Demolish Negishi Refinery Units

Japan

KOFU, JAPAN--June 5, 2023--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--ENEOS Corporation's (Tokyo, Japan) Negishi Refinery was one of the largest refineries in Japan, but one out of two crude distillation units (CDUs) plus the related secondary units were closed permanently in October 2022. The CDU production capacity was reduced to 150,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) from 270,000 BBL/d.

The first phase of the demolition will begin in August, and completion is expected in 2024. Initially, ENEOS planned to construct a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production unit after the demolishment, but due to the high cost, the new SAF unit will now be at ENEOS' Wakayama Refinery.
