Suncor continues with an unplanned shutdown of Plant 1 (West) that started December 22 at its 98,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Denver Refinery in Commerce City, Colorado. Plant inspection and evaluations are ongoing. Meanwhile, Plant 2 (East) was in the process of restarting on December 27 when a fire broke out while the units were still down. It is unclear when the units will be back online.

Nghi Son Refining and Petrochemical Limited Liability Company (NSRP), on January 1, was forced to shut down the 80,000-BBL/d Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracker (RFCC) Unit at its 200,000-BBL/d Nghi Son Refinery in Vietnam due to a catalyst leak. Expectations are to resume normal production by January 11. Crude run rates are reduced by 25% for the duration of unit repairs.
PDVSA's 70,000-BBL/d Fluid Catalytic Cracker Unit (FCCU), 18,000-BBL/d Alkylation and 8,500-BBL/d Cat Feed Hydrotreater units at its 140,000-BBL/d El Palito, Venezuela, refinery, remain offline during major repairs on the FCCU. The restart is tentatively set to occur by early March.
