Researched by Industrial Info Resources Latin America (Cordoba, Argentina)--The 200-megawatt (MW) Santo Domingo de los Olleros thermal power plant recently began commercial operations in Chilca, in the province of Lima, Peru. Construction started in early 2011, with a total investment of $160 million.
The facility is equipped with one 200-MW, natural gas-fired, SGT6-5000F simple- cycle combustion turbine, supplied by Siemens AG (NYSE:SI) (Munich, Germany).
The company is considering the installation of another 200-MW combustion turbine, as well as closing the cycle by adding two heat-recovery steam generators (HRSG) and a 500-MW steam turbine.
Officials told Industrial Info that they have a contract for turbine and generator maintenance with Siemens. According to the maintenance program, the first combustion inspection must be completed in 12.5 (EOH) equivalent operating hours, and the hot gas path inspection (HGPI) must be completed in 25 EOH.
The plant, which is operated by Termochilca SAC (Lima, Peru), is located 60 kilometers south of the capital of Peru, on Santo Domingo de los Olleros Avenue.
