200-MW Fuel-Cell Power Plant Planned in South Korea

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas--Korea Western Power has signed an agreement with IT Energy to develop a fuel-cell business in Jangheung in South Korea's South Jeolla Province, which includes a plan to build a 200-megawatt (MW), large-scale fuel-cell power plant in the bio-industrial complex in Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do.

In this project, Korea Western Power has decided to purchase renewable energy supply certificates (RECs) and participate in equity, and IT Energy has decided to secure the site, supervise project financing and participate in equity.

Currently, the project feasibility review is in progress, and the application for the power-generation business license will be processed later. The target for construction work is early next year.
