Zhangjiagang Huaxing Power Company part of China's State Power Corporation started constructing a $300 Million 790-megawatt (MW) Gas-Fired Combined-Cycle (C-C) Power Station in Zhangjiagang in July (PEC 88000456).
The Power Station will utilize over 24 billion cubic feet of gas per year from the West-East Pipeline (WEP) it is helping to support. The Power Station will utilize two 395 MW American GE (General Electric) combined-cycle (combustion turbine/generators with a heat recovery steam generator plus steam turbine/generator).
The Station's first unit is scheduled for completion and operation by August of 2005. The second will follow in February of 2006. This new station will be the largest C-C station in China and is the first of ten combustion turbine/generator projects to be approved.
