AES Puerto Rico (Guayama, Puerto Rico), a division of the AES Aurora group of AES Corporation (NYSE: AES) (Richmond, Virginia), is completing construction of two coal-fired circulating fluidized bed boilers with two 227 mega-watt (MW) steam turbine/generators to produce 454MW of power (15% of existing power and 9% of total electricity) and 400,000 lbs/hr of process steam which will be supplied to a Chevron Phillips Petrochemical facility.

The plant is equipped with dry scrubbers, electrostatic precipitators, and selective non-catalytic reduction units to control Sulfur dioxide, NOx, and particulate emissions.
