Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land Texas). The daily reports of power supply failures in countries worldwide must make interesting reading for companies in the power rental and emergency power sector. The Scottish based company Aggreko (LSE:AGK ) (Glasgow, Scotland) has seen strong results from markets in developing countries and has just signed a power supply contract with the Yemen Public Electricity Corporation (PEC).
Aggreko will supply PEC with six 100 MW power stations in Amran, Aden, Taiz, and Liaj which will add to the 105 MW the company is already supplying. The increasing demand for power in Yemen, which has experienced a spurt in economic growth, has brought with it power outages. The AGK contract is deigned to reduce the interruptions and support infrastructure development. PEC is also looking to provide power to the countrys rural areas.
AGK has developed turnkey solutions which are custom designed and can be rapidly mobilized fro network service centers located in Yemen and throughout the Middle East, supported by on-site service and maintenance crews to provide reliability of power supply.
In 2006, AGK acquired GE Energy Rentals which increased its existing rental fleet by 30%. In the 2006 financial year, it had revenues of $997 million and had 2,200 employees operating from 100 locations in 29 countries and used $1.6 billion of rental equipment. The company claims global leadership in the rental of power, temperature control and compressed air systems.
