Anadarko Progresses with Phases III and IV at its Salt Creek EOR Field in Wyoming

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:APC) (Houston, Texas) is proceeding with plans for its Salt Creek EOR field near Midwest Wyoming. Anadarko decided to develop its expansion Phases 3 and 4 to run concurrently. The majority of the drilling and well reworking will take place in 2005, and then, during 2006, Anadarko will commence construction on the main surface facilities for both phases.

Anadarko is currently producing 7,000 to 8,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) of crude oil from the Salt Creek CO2 flood program and intends to expand the production rates to 25,000 to 30,000 BBL/d when it completes all twelve phases of expansion at Salt Creek. Anadarko is already designing the Phase 5 expansion, on which it intends to begin construction in late 2006 or early 2007, after the completion of Phases 3 and 4. Phase 5 will incorporate another round of well re-entries and workovers, as well as expanding its CO2 separation and re-injection facilities.

Compressor capacity will be expanded throughout the project.

Anadarko hopes to complete all twelve or thirteen phases of the Salt Creek EOR CO2 flood by 2014, averaging one phase completion per year, at a total capital cost of approximately $684 million.
