Auto Supplier Builds $21 Million Parts Plant in Indiana

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--World-class automotive injection molding parts supplier Greenville Technology Incorporated (GTI) (Greenville, Ohio) is under way with plans to construct a $21.4 million automotive parts manufacturing plant in Anderson, Indiana, to supply auto parts to Japanese automotive manufacturer Honda Motor Company (Minato, Tokyo, Japan) (TYO:7267). The plant will be known as GTI Anderson.

Construction started last month for a 150,000-square-foot building with the installation of supporting equipment that will enable the company to manufacture dashboard components, which includes glove boxes, outlets, arm rests and consoles for the Honda Civic and Acura IL vehicles that are being manufactured at the Honda Manufacturing Plant in Greensburg, Indiana. The new plant is expected to have a capacity to manufacture 1 million parts per month once the facility reaches full capacity. Approximately 100 jobs will be created initially, and this amount will increase to 250 in two years. Operations are expected to begin in the spring of 2013.

GDI Anderson and Enterprise Electrical and Mechanical, both located in Indianapolis, Indiana, were selected to provide general construction services and electrical and mechanical services for the new plant.

Greenville Technology, established in 1986, currently operates a 480,621-square-foot automotive parts manufacturing facility in Greenville, Ohio, with approximately 573 employees.
