Bangladesh to Revive Old Fertilizer Plants, an Industrial Info Market Brief
Despite a slowdown in the economy due to COVID-19, Bangladesh plans to revive old plants to meet the domestic demand for fertilizers. Ashuganj Fertilizer and Chemical Company Limited (AFCCL), a subsidiary of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC), is planning an approximately $4.4 million investment in a major upgrade project at the Brahamnbaria fertilizer complex to maintain the unit efficiency for 264,000 metric tons per year of ammonia and 462,000 tons per year of urea by replacing all obsolete heavy manufacturing equipment and adding a new boiler. The projects are expected to start construction mid-2021.
