Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Baxter Healthcare (NYSE: BAX) (Deerfield, Illinois) is planning to invest $100 million for an expansion of their Baxter Pharmaceutical Solutions LLC plant in Bloomington, Indiana (PLANT 1033808) (PEC 11002250). The Bloomington site provides parenteral (sterile) contract manufacturing services, producing pre-filled syringes, vials and cartridges that are used for vaccines and drugs to treat chronic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis. Parenteral product dosage forms include solutions, suspensions and freeze dried powders of biologic, biotech, vaccine and protein pharmaceuticals.
The 120,000 square foot expansion will accommodate additional syringe filling and vial filling lines, a lyophilization suite, new laboratories, and administrative offices. The project is expected to double the plant's capacity to produce pre-filled syringes and add over 700 new jobs, bringing the total number of people employed to over 1,200. Construction is expected to begin later this year and be complete in seven years.
