Brazil's Binatural Industria e Comercio de Oleos Vegetais Ltda has started construction on a second biodiesel production site in Simões Filho, Bahia, in order to reinforce its commitment to sustainability and better serve the northeast Brazilian market, one of its most important markets.

The company plans to invest about $12.89 million in restarting and expanding the former Comanche Clean Energy plant to produce up to 360 million liters per year of biodiesel. In addition to the expansion of the existing plant, Binatural intends to install a 200-ton-per-day fatty acids unit and a 120-ton-per-day glycerin-refining unit to attend the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.

The construction period has a duration of 10 months. The facility is expected to be operational by June 2021. Click here for a list of related projects, and see map below.
