Bluebonnets Abloom - Construction on New Salad Dressing Plant in Texas Delayed until State Flowers Wither

The new plant will include a new production area and warehouse, and the corporate offices will also move to the new site

Released Wednesday, April 13, 2005

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated Houston, Texas). Family owned and operated salad dressing manufacturer, Del Sol Food Company Incorporated (Chappell Hill, Texas) is planning to construct a new production facility in Brenham, Texas, for relocation.

If you have ever been to Brenham in the springtime, you can understand why the cows do think its heaven, as bluebonnets and other wildflowers paint the roadside landscape along the highways with an array of spectacular colors. But when the owners of Del Sol Foods look at their new ten acres of property, just off Highway 290, what they see is the future site for a new plant that will allow the company to bloom and continue to compete in a niche area of the gourmet food market. They also see a sea of bluebonnets across the property.

Bluebonnets are the Texas state flower, and the company wants passersby to enjoy their beauty for a few more weeks before it begins construction.

Once the flowers begin to wither, Del Sol plans to break ground on a new 43,000 square foot production and bottling facility for the company's award-winning line of Briannas salad dressings. The company has selected Environmental Structures Incorporated (Hartland, Wisconsin) as the design-build firm for this estimated $5 million project, and the contractor will begin mobilizing staff and subcontractors to the site within the week.

The new plant will include a new production area and warehouse, and the corporate offices will also move to the new site from just down the road in Chappell Hill. Batch mixing and blending lines will be installed, along with bottling and labeling equipment to support production of the company’s twelve different varieties of salad dressing. A second and third phase of the project have been laid out for future expansion, which could increase the plant’s size to 100,000 square feet as the business grows.

Construction is scheduled to be completed by early January of 2006.

For 23 years, the family owned and operated Del Sol Food Company has been delighting salad lovers with Briannas Fine Salad Dressing, winner of the American Culinary Institute's Best Taste Award for Specialty and Natural Shelf Stable Dressing in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005, as well as an assortment of other prestigious awards. The company produces twelve varieties of delicious, premium dressings in 12-ounce retail bottles.
