Plans are to construct a 40,000 square foot warehouse and another 80,000 square foot warehouse, both of which will include high bays, conveyors, as well as the installation of prototype production equipment from Germany to increase manufacturing capacity. Project design is currently underway, and a general contractor will be selected in November, with bids for subcontractors going out thereafter. Construction kick-off is anticipated in mid-December 2004, with the equipment coming online in the fall of 2005.
Blum Incorporated, headquartered in Stanley, North Carolina, was founded in 1977. They are part of the family-owned Julius Blum GmbH, headquartered in Herford Germany, which also has production facilities in Austria and Brazil. The Blum USA plant currently employs approximately 400 people and manufactures high-end pullout systems for the North American market.
