Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Following the smooth completion of the stator erection for Unit 1 on June 5, 2012, Unit 1 of Henan Investment Group Company Limited's (Zhengzhou, Henan) 1,320-megawatt (MW) coal-fired expansion project at the Longquan Jinheng Power Plant passed the boiler water pressure test on July 15, 2012. Successful completion of the water pressure test means that the erection of the boiler heating surface for the unit has been fully completed as scheduled, according to an announcement from Henan Thermal Power Construction Company Limited (Zhengzhou, Henan), the construction contractor and a subsidiary of the Power Construction Corporation of China (PCCC) (Beijing), on July 16.

As reported, the water pressure test for the Unit 1 boiler kicked off on July 13, 2012, and the pressure was built up to 34.82 megapascal (MPa) and was kept at the value for 20 minutes on July 15, 2012. The heating surface of the boiler has a total of 49,669 welding seams. There was not any leakage or deformation during the pressure test. The completion creates a firm foundation for major milestones, such as boiler flushing and pipe cleaning, in the next stage.

The Longquan Jinheng Power Plant is located in Shuizhai Town, in Luoyang City. The plant will be furnished with two 660-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units, together with a highly efficient, electrostatic dust-removing device, flue gas desulfurization, nitrogen oxide control, and online continuous emission monitoring devices.

Construction of the project kicked off on June 1, 2011. The main powerhouse was roofed on January 12, 2012, but the project received no final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission until February 2012. According to the schedule, the first unit will begin operations later this year, and the second unit will begin operation in the beginning of 2013.
