Boise Schedules Annual Maintenance Shutdown at Minnesota Mill

The company is currently seeking industrial contractors and suppliers to perform various maintenance, repair, and inspection services

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Inc.; Houston, Texas). Boise Paper Solutions, a business unit of Boise Cascade Corporation (NYSE: BCC) (Boise, Idaho), has scheduled the first week of September 2003 to begin a week-long maintenance shutdown of a pulp and paper mill in International Falls, Minnesota. The company is currently seeking industrial contractors and suppliers to perform various maintenance, repair, and inspection services. In addition to scheduled maintenance work, some capital projects will be completed during the shutdown period. Some of the tradesmen and suppliers required for the shutdown include pipe fitters, welders, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, HVAC, and suppliers of wastewater treatment chemicals, lubricants, and spare parts.

The International Falls mill employs 900 people and produces around 1,500 tons of paper products daily. The mill is comprised of a woodyard, batch digesters, a chemical recovery area, bleach plant, stock prep pulpers and refiners, four paper machines, finishing equipment, six power boilers and one black liquor recovery boiler, plus water and effluent treatment facilities.

Boise is an international distributor of office supplies and paper and an integrated manufacturer and distributor of paper, packaging, and building materials. Headquartered in Boise, Idaho, the company was established in 1957 by the merger of Boise Payette Lumber Company and Cascade Lumber Company. The company's operations extend throughout North America, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil. Boise controls 2.4 million acres of timberlands in the United States. Today, Boise employs 24,000 people around the world and had sales of $7.4 billion in 2002.
