The expansion will allow the refinery to process sour Canadian crude oil. The site work began in May 2008. The company is expected to begin steel erection and equipment setting by mid-2010, with the mechanical and electrical portion of the project commencing in the spring of 2011. The project is scheduled to be completed in early 2012.
The company has chosen Jacobs Engineering Group Incorporated (NYSE:JEC) (Pasadena, California) to perform engineering, procurement, and construction services for the sulfur-recovery complex. Fluor Corporation (NYSE:FLR) (Irving, Texas) is performing engineering, procurement, and construction services for the crude unit, gas oil hydrotreater, and offsites work. Foster Wheeler (NASDAQ:FWLT) (Clinton, New Jersey) is performing engineering, procurement, and construction for the coker portion. These companies have a shortlist of contractors --CTI, BMW, Graycor, Nooter, and AMS--to perform work at the site.

The refineries have a total capacity of 1.5 million barrels per day. The company markets products in more than 100 countries, operating primarily in Europe and North America. Other markets include Australia, parts of Southeast Asia, China, Africa, and Central and South America.
