Bryan Texas Utilities Completes Construction of Expansion Project at Dansby Power Station

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU) (Bryan, Texas) has completed construction and is in the start-up testing phase of the estimated $50 million, 50-megawatt (MW) expansion project at the Ronald C. Dansby Power Station in Bryan.

Construction began in the spring of 2009 and was completed in the fall. BTU is slated to commence full commercial operation of the new expansion in March. The project consists of installing an additional 50-MW, natural-gas-fired GE Energy LM6000 SPRINT combustion turbine to the existing facility. The new unit will operate in a simple-cycle peaking configuration to boost the plant's nameplate capacity to more than 200 MW. The new unit will provide much-needed power to nearly 35,000 homes in Bryan.
