Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The construction kick-off ceremony for China Huaneng Group's (Beijing) Yichun Grassroot Cogeneration Power Project was held in Yichun City, in the Heilongjiang province, on July 5, 2012.
The Huaneng Yichun Cogeneration Power Project, located in Yichun City, is a key power source project for the Heilongjiang province. The project has a total planned capacity of 1,400 megawatts (MW). This includes two 350-MW, supercritical, coal-fired units, together with flue gas desulfuration and denitration devices, will be built in Phase I with a total investment of about $450 million. Huaneng Heilongjiang Power Generation Company Limited (Harbin, Heilongjiang), a fully owned subsidiary of China Huaneng Group, will be responsible for the development and future operations of the project.
Early in December 2009, Huaneng Heilongjiang Power Generation Company had completed the preliminary feasibility study for Phase I of the project. In September 2010, the environmental impact assessment report of the project received approval from the Ministry of Environmental Protection. In late 2011, the project received final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission.
According to plans, the project will begin operations in the second quarter of 2014. Upon completion, the project will able to achieve centralized heating for a total area of 12.5 million square meters in the four downtown districts of Yichun City. It also will be able to replace three existing small-sized thermal power plants with a total installed capacity of 104 MW, as well as 215 small-sized, coal-fired boilers scattered in its service area.
Among other leaders and representatives who attended the ceremony were Zhang Jianxing, the deputy governor of the Heilongjiang province, and Cao Peixi, the general manager of China Huaneng Group, according to an announcement from China Huaneng Group on July 6.
