Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). In an effort to expand its core business, Chinas largest offshore oil explorer, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), is seeking international partners for developing wind power plants along Chinas coastal areas.
According to CNOOCs General Manager, in the next 10 to 20 years coastal wind power will supply the majority of energy to China. Therefore, CNOOC is wiling to work with all countries in the world to develop Chinas coastal power potential. Presently, Western Europe accounts for the majority of the 600 MW wind power generated annually.
CNOOCs General Manager also said that wind power is a very valuable resource. Looking for other substitution sources of energy is also one of the strategies to diversify CNOOCs core business of oil and gas. At present, CNOOC has only one core business so it is hoped that CNOOCs core business could expand to three or five areas and new energy will surely be one of them.
