China's Crude Steel Output in October Drops 3.1% from Year Earlier
Output of crude steel in China decreased by 3.1% in October.
Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--China's crude steel output for October amounted to 66.12 million tonnes, a drop of 3.1% from the same month last year, according to China's National Development and Reform Commission.
Output of steel products totaled 94.27 million tonnes in October, a drop of 0.2% from the same month last year; coke production totaled 37.17 million tonnes, a drop of 9.4%; and ferroalloy dropped 9.5%.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics of China, crude steel output totaled 675.10 million tonnes for the first 10 months of 2015, a drop of 2.2% from the same period in 2014. Output of steel products reached 934.30 million tonnes for January through October, a 1% increase. Coke production for the period fell 5.1% to 375.66 million tonnes; and ferroalloy production totaled 30.31 million tonnes, a drop of 5.1%.
China's steel exports totaled 90.2 million tonnes in October this year, which was 2.23 million tonnes less than in September; steel imports amounted to 0.95 million tonnes, which was 0.06 million less than in September. Coke reached 0.77 million tonnes, an increase of 0.1 million tonnes over September. From January through October 2015, China's imports of iron ore totaled 774.51 million tonnes, a drop of 0.5% from the same period a year earlier. Coke exports increased 15.6% to 7.56 million tonnes. Exports of steel products rose 24.7% to 92.13 million tonnes. Imports of steel products fell 11.7% to 10.68 million tonnes.
The price of steel products has continued to fall.
