China's Output of Crude Steel Up 0.5% in April 2016
According to an announcement from China Iron and Steel Industry Association, in April of this year, China's crude steel output reached 69.42 million metric tons, which was equivalent to 2.31 million metric tons per day on average, or an increase of 0.5% from the same period of last year, while the growth in the first quarter 2016 was -3.2%.

Steel products reached 96.68 million metric tons, which was equivalent to 3.22 million metric tons per day on average, or an increase of 0.5% from the same time in 2015. Pigment reached 58.42 million metric tons, which was equivalent to 1.95 million metric tons per day on average, or a drop of 2.0% from the same period of last year. Coke hit 36.25 million metric tons, down 3.4% from last year.
From January to April 2016, the country's accumulative output of crude steel, reached 261 million metric tons, which was 6.15 million metric tons less, or a decrease of 2.3%, from the same period of last year. Pigment achieved 225 million metric tons, which was 8.64 million metric tons less, or a drop of 3.7%, from last year. Steel products reached 359 million metric tons, an increase of 0.2%. Coke hot 138.87 million metric tons, a down 7.6% from last year.
According to China's General Customs report, last month, the country's import and export of steel products reached 1.10 million metric tons and 9.08 million metric tons respectively. The import of iron ore was 83.92 million metric tons and the export of coke and semi-coke reached 0.69 million metric tons. From January to April of this year, China's accumulative import of steel reached 4.23 million metric tons, a drop of 4.6% from the same time of last year. The accumulative export of steel reached 36.90 million metric tons , an increase of 7.6%. The accumulative import of iron ore reached 325.44 million metric tons, up 6.1% from the same time in 2015. The accumulative export of coke reached 3.43 million metric tons , an increase of 16.1%.
According to the Instant Statistic Report of the National Bureau of Statistics of China, in April 2016, China's output of ten major nonferrous metals reached 4.25 million metric tons, an increase of 1.7% compared with the same period of last year. The output of aluminum ingot reached 2.57 million metric tons, a drop of 1.2%. From January to April of this year, China's accumulative output of ten major nonferrous metals reached 16.36 million metric tons, a slight increase of 0.3% from last year.
