China's Power Consumption in April Rises 0.7% Year over Year, an Industrial Info Market Brief

China's power consumption reached 557.2 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) in April, a 0.7% increase year over year, according to China's National Energy Administration.

For the first four months of 2020, China's power consumption amounted to 2,127 billion kWh year over year, a drop of 4.7%, the administration said.

Power consumption by the primary industries (agriculture, forestry, fishing, mining, and oil & gas production) reached 6.2 billion kWh in April, an increase of 7.7% year over year; secondary industries' (manufacturing) consumption was 390.4 billion kWh, up 1.3%. However, consumption by tertiary industries (services) dropped 7.8% to 79.6 billion kWh.

Consumption by urban and township households reached 81.0 billion kWh, an increase of 6.5%.

For the first four months of 2020, power consumption by primary industries reached 22.8 billion kWh, an increase of 5%; secondary industry consumption fell 6.1% to 1,388.4 billion kWh, and tertiary industry consumption dropped 8.1% to 342.4 billion kWh.

Consumption by urban and township households during the first four months of 2020 increased 3.9% to 373.4 billion kWh year over year.
