Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Foshan Sanshui Gas Company has finished construction on its a compressed natural gas (CNG) regulation station project with a designed daily capacity of 20 tons of the less-expensive, environment-friendly and safer product in the Sanshui Industrial Park in Foshan in southern China's Guangdong Province.
Construction on the company's natural gas pipelines is expected to be completed by year's end. Completion of the first phase of the network project with bring about 3.5 million cubic meters of natural gas.
The company is two years ahead of schedule for residents and businesses in the district to use pipeline natural gas.
Combining the natural gas pipeline network and the CNG regulation station, the total provision of natural gas in the Sanshui Industrial Park will reach 9.6 million cubic meters per year by 2010 and 33 million cubic meters per year by 2015, replacing the current prevailing fuels, including liquefied petroleum gas, diesel, heavy oil and coal.
The industrial park welcomes projects that suit the requirements of environment protection during economic growth, including biomedical technology, green food, renewable energy and air-pollution control.
CNG is made by compressing natural gas (which is mainly composed by methane (CH4), in a percentage range of 70% to 98%). It is stored and distributed in hard containers at a pressure of 200/220 bar.
In response to high fuel prices and environmental concerns, compressed natural gas is starting to be used in light-duty passenger vehicles and pickup trucks, medium-duty delivery trucks, and in transit and school buses worldwide.
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is used as an auto fuel as well as urban civil-use fuel in China and can also be used as materials for chemical industries.
Eastern China's Fujian Province has also started LNG projects that will be put into production next year. Other provinces, such as Zhejiang, Shandong and Jiangsu provinces and Shanghai Municipality in eastern China, Hebei Province in northern China and Liaoning Province in northeastern China have all started preliminary work for LNG projects.
