Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). One of North America's largest food processors, ConAgra Foods Incorporated (NYSE: CAG) (Omaha, Nebraska) is planning a major capital investment to reconfigure and expand capacity at their beef processing and cooking plant in Lufkin, Texas. (Plant 1040202)
Plans are to increase capacity through a $13 million investment, which will totally reconfigure production lines and equipment in the plant. Construction will mainly happen within the existing walls of the facility located at 800 Ellen Trout Drive in Lufkin and the investment will be mainly in new equipment.
To perform structural, wall, flooring and equipment installation projects, ConAgra has selected general contractor CMA Food Group (Dallas, Texas) to perform the work. Along with adding and upgrading equipment on existing barbecue and marinated meat lines, a new line will be installed to produce a roast beef product.
The expansion will also result in the addition of 120 additional jobs and increase the plants output capacity by four fold.
Construction is scheduled to begin August 13 of 2003 and take about six months to complete the work.
Based in Omaha, Nebraska, ConAgra Food Products is North America's No. 1 foodservice supplier and No. 2 supplier to grocery stores. Last year it recorded over $27 billion in sales with its 33 major brands and value-added products.
