A $2.5 billion project package to build three power stations in Nigeria has been put together by a consortium of six European power and engineering companies. The consortium is led by the French company Perspectives Limited with two other French companies, Juben Holdings and Electricite de France plus Siemens, and Koch from Germany and Alstom Power.

The construction of the power plants with a total generating capacity of 2,320MW will be spread over two years. The first phase, covers the fast-track construction of a 320MW gas power station in Lagos. Construction is scheduled to be completed within twelve months. The second phase involves the construction of two 1,000MW gas power stations with one in Delta State to serve the southern areas and one in Abuja to serve the northern part of the country.
