Construction for Datang Huitengliang Windfarm Officially Starts

Datang Xilinguole Wind Power Generation Company, Limited poured the first bucket of concrete for the first phase of the Huitengliang windfarm in Abaga Banner in North China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on April 25, 2007. This marks the construction of the first wind power project for Datang Hebei Power Generation Company Limited (Hebei Company).

Prior to construction China Datang Corporation and Hebei Company provided design support. Land acquisition, temporary structure, construction design and approval procedures have been carried out one after another. Pit excavation was completed prior to the winter freezing in 2006. Since the construction team moved to the site on April 10, they have overcome many difficulties such as continuous rainfall, low temperatures, sand storms and the crashing of the access road. With cooperation from all parties involved, the first bucket of concrete for the comprehensive building was placed on April 25. The placement of the #23 pit pad was completed within the first day.

There are 33 sets of 1,500 KW units in the 49.5 MW first phase. Presently, the project company has made a thorough plan to enhance site construction management, and try its best to put the first batch of units into operation as soon as possible, provided that safety and quality are secured.

As a project officially registered under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the United Nations in January 2007, the project could reduce the emission of 110,000 tons of CO2 every year upon its completion.
