Construction in Full Swing at $126 Million Poultry-Processing Complex in Alabama

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Construction is progressing on the site of Keystone Foods LLC's (West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania) poultry processing facility and distribution center in Gadsden, Alabama. Keystone broke ground on the project this fall and hopes to complete the plant and distribution center by the fall of 2009. At full output, the new facility will produce between 120 million and 140 million pounds of fully cooked (ready to eat) poultry products.

Plans call for the construction of a 184,000-square-foot production facility and a 75,000-square-foot distribution center that will be operated by Southern Cold Storage LLC (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) at a cost of $9 million. Keystone will install new processing equipment in addition to equipment relocated from another processing facility in Gadsden.

The site is a 98-acre parcel located on Steele Station Road in Etowah County.

Stellar (Jacksonville, Florida) has been awarded a contract to provide full design-build services for both facilities.
