Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Apex Clean Energy Incorporated (Charlottesville, Virginia), an independent renewable energy company, is starting construction on the Hoopeston Windfarm, located in Vermilion County, Illinois.
The facility is designed to accommodate 49 wind turbines. The windfarm will include Vestas V-100 turbine generator sets, each capable of producing 2 megawatts (MW), for a total nameplate capacity of 98 MW.
Michels Construction (Brownsville, Wisconsin) won the balance-of-plant contract for the project. Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2014, creating about 60 jobs. When completed, the facility will offer five long-term operational jobs. It is estimated that approximately 39,000 homes will benefit from the renewable energy facility.
