Consultant Selected for Corridor Study in Minnesota

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Ramey County Regional Railroad Authority (RCRRA) (St. Paul, Minnesota) has selected URS Corporation (Minneapolis, Minnesota) to provide an energy and alternative analysis study for a $400 million rush line corridor in St. Paul.

Plans are to construct an 80-mile bus, rail and commuter line segment running from downtown at Minnesota's Union Depot in St. Paul to Hinckley, following Highway 61 and Interstate 35E/35 north. The line segment will require 15 new stations. Upon full funding approval from the Federal Transit Administration, a design-build firm will be selected in late spring 2010 to provide detailed engineering and construction. Construction is expected to begin in 2011 with overall completion slated for 2013. The energy and alternative analysis study is expected to be complete by late summer 2009. At this time, a specific corridor (bus, rail and commuter) will be selected.

The RCRRA provides transit services to meet the needs of Ramsey County and surrounding communities. The agency plans integrated transportation services in conjunction with other agencies, and owns and manages 103 acres of property in Ramsey County.
