The worlds largest producer of fruits and vegetables, privately held Dole Fresh Vegetables, Incorporated (Westlake Village, California), will soon begin operating from a new $54 million vegetable processing plant and distribution center in Gastonia, North Carolina. Dennis Group Incorporated (Springfield, Massachusetts) the construction management firm for the project expects to turn over half of the plant, primarily the distribution center, to the owner at the end of next week and the other half of the operation in the coming weeks.
Primary operations at the new plant will involve taking fresh vegetables and processing them into bagged products for distribution in the southern and eastern United States.
