Researched by Industrial Information Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--American Municipal Power-Ohio (AMP-Ohio) (Columbus, Ohio) has chosen Bechtel Power (Frederic, Maryland) to construct the company's $3.5 billion coal-fired power plant in Racine, Ohio.
Other major equipment being constructed includes the coal-handling and delivery system, transmission lines, transformers and switchgear. The plant will be using Powerspan Corporation's (Portsmouth, New Hampshire) Electro-Catalytic Oxidation technology, an air-pollution-control technology that significantly reduces sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, mercury and particulate matter.
R W Beck Incorporated (Denver, Colorado) is the engineer for the project, providing a wide range of support, including planning, scheduling and construction monitoring.
AMP-Ohio received its final wastewater discharge permit last month. Construction is scheduled for early fall 2009, with completion set for mid-2014.
