Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Choate Construction Incorporated and MCC Mechanical of the Carolinas LLC, both of which are headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, were selected to provide general construction and mechanical services for a $70 million disposable nonwoven fabric-manufacturing plant expansion for Polymer Group Incorporated's (OTC:POLGA) (Charlotte) plant in Waynesboro, Virginia.
Plans are to construct a 150,000-square-foot building addition to the existing 210,000-square-foot building. The project also entails the installation of high-tech nonwoven machines and equipment that will allow the company to establish a new state-of-the-art spunmelt manufacturing line for the production of spunbond products for the hygiene, medical, and select industrial and consumer wipe markets.
Construction is anticipated to begin this month and is scheduled for completion in the early summer of 2011. Approximately 31 new jobs will be created. The company's expansion will increase product capabilities and production capacity and is part of the company's ongoing strategy to meet increased customer demand and changing needs.
Polymer Group Incorporated was founded in 1992. As one of the world's leading producers of nonwoven fabrics, the company focuses on the production of nonwovens for the hygiene, wipes, medical and industrial markets. The company currently operates 15 manufacturing facilities in nine countries and has approximately 3,000 employees.
