NTE Energy to Develop Three Combined-Cycle Plants
- NTE Energy LLC (St. Augustine, Florida) has announced plans to develop three natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plants in Connecticut, North Carolina (500 megawatts each) and Ohio (1,000 megawatts).

TransCanada Ends Coal-fired PPAs as Alberta Targets Coal Plants for Closure - TransCanada Corporation (NYSE:TRP) (Calgary, Alberta) last month terminated three power-purchase agreements (PPAs) with coal-fired power plants in Calgary following that province's decision last November to phase out coal-fired power generation by 2030. The PPAs totaled about 1,678 megawatts.

U.S. Oil Drillers Cut More Rigs
- The number of rigs drilling for oil in the U.S. declined by 3 to 351 for the week ending April 15, according to Baker Hughes. This compares to 734 oil rigs operating in the U.S. during the same period last year.

EIA: U.S. Natural Gas Production at Record High in 2015 - According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, U.S. natural gas production in 2015 reached an average of 79 billion cubic feet per day in 2015, setting a new production record.

Goodrich Petroleum Files for Bankruptcy
- Houston-based Goodrich Petroleum Corporation on Friday filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, listing $507 million in debts and $99 million in assets.
