NATURAL GAS
U.S. Natural Gas Futures Up on Warmer Forecasts - U.S. natural gas for September delivery rose 9.5 cents, or 3.7%, on Monday to settle at $2.679 per million British thermal units as forecasts called for above-normal temperatures for much of the continental U.S. from September 1 through September 5. (Bloomberg)
REFINING
China's Fuel Products Exports Surge Year-over-Year - China's exports of diesel, kerosene and gasoline surged in July from a year earlier, showing a domestic oversupply of fuel. Diesel exports were up 181.8% to 1.53 million tonnes, while gasoline exports rose 145% to 970,000 tonnes. Kerosene exports were up 46%. (Reuters)
CRUDE OIL
Crude Settles Down 3% - Oil settled down more than 3% on Monday on worries about the burgeoning Chinese fuel exports, more Iraqi and Nigerian crude shipments, and a rising U.S. oil rig count. WTI closed at $47.05 a barrel. (Reuters)
POWER
Russian Fast Reactor Hits Full Power - A new fast reactor unit at the Beloyarsk nuclear power plant in Russia has begun operating at full power for the first time, almost two years after it was due to be fully operational. (IIR)
PRODUCTION
EIA: Bakken to Surpass Eagle Ford Production in 2019 - According to projections from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), by 2019, Bakken oil production is projected to reach 1.3 million barrels per day, surpassing the Eagle Ford to become the largest tight oil-producing formation in the United States.
